Formentor power window issue after battery replacement
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery in a 2021 Seat Formentor hybrid, the power windows stopped functioning, with an error indicating a window regulator initialization fault. This issue is likely related to the battery change, causing the window regulator to lose its settings. The suggested solution involves performing a window reset using a diagnostic tool, which can be done at a garage to restore window functionality.

Interesting. When you say 'window reset', what exactly does that involve? Is it something I can do myself, or does it require specific equipment?

Yeah, sounds like the window regulator has lost its mind after the battery disconnect. The 'window reset' is basically telling the car where the top and bottom positions of the window are. Sadly, it usually needs a diagnostic tool to do it properly, something that can talk to the car's computer. Best bet is to get it to a garage; they'll plug it in and sort it out in minutes. Save you pulling the door panel apart for no reason!

Spot on. Local garage knew exactly what to do. Window reset via diagnostic tool, all sorted. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed. Thanks for the help.

Oh no, that sounds like a proper pain! Replacing the battery shouldn't mess with your windows, should it? I've heard of power window issues before, sometimes it's just a dodgy window switch. Have you checked the fuses? That's the first thing I'd do, before ripping the door panel off. Maybe try disconnecting the battery again for a few minutes? Worth a shot, right?
