Fortuner Fuel Sensor Fault

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2005 Toyota Fortuner (gasoline engine). The check engine light keeps popping up, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. I ran a scan, and it's showing a fuel level sensor fault. I checked the car dashboard and also checked for a fuse related to the fuel sensor, but couldn't find one. Anyone else run into this?

Hey, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, although it was a different sensor. In my case the car electronics played tricks on me and it was also the fuel gauge. Was your fuel gauge acting strangely at all?

Interesting! Now that you mention it, yes, the fuel gauge does seem to fluctuate a bit more than usual. What was the error stored in the error memory for your Megane? Was it related to the fuel level sensor too?

Yep, exactly the same error. My fuel level gauge was also acting up intermittently. Honestly, after fiddling with it for ages, I just took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a faulty sensor. They replaced it and the problem was solved. It's probably the best course of action.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I went to the workshop as you suggested, and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty fuel sensor. They replaced it (cost me about 52€), and everything seems to be working fine now. Really appreciate the help!
