Fortuner Immobilizer Issue

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2020 Toyota Fortuner (gasoline engine). The immobilizer seems to be acting up. It cranks, but the engine won't start. Sometimes, it'll fire up briefly and then die immediately. I've scanned for error codes and there's definitely an immobilizer-related error stored. Could this be a key programming issue?

Sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my 2018 Opel Insignia a while back. Security light flashing like crazy, right? Did you try the spare key, just to rule out a faulty transponder in the main one?

Yeah, the security light is definitely doing its thing. I did try the spare key, but no luck – same symptoms. So, what was the fix on your Insignia? Was it a simple key re-programming or something more involved?

Turned out to be incorrect key programming as well. Saved myself a headache and went straight to a workshop to sort it out. They reprogrammed the key and that fixed it right away.

Thanks for the input. I took it to the workshop and it was indeed a key programming problem. They reprogrammed it for 45€ and it's running perfectly now.
