Freed crankshaft camshaft error
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda Freed hybrid with 32,037 km is experiencing a check engine light, power loss, and increased fuel consumption, with an error code indicating a 'crankshaft to camshaft reference value' issue. The problem could be due to a defective crankshaft sensor or possibly the timing belt. A similar case was resolved by replacing the crankshaft sensor, and professional diagnosis and repair are recommended to address the issue effectively.

No weird noises, thankfully! Just the sudden drop in power and the light. So, you had the same 'crankshaft to camshaft' error on your Freed? Was it the crank sensor in the end? How did you fix it?

Yup, same error. Honestly, I messed around with it for a bit, checking connections and stuff, but I'm no mechanic. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it and replaced the sensor. I'd say get it checked professionally. Could save you a lot of headaches.

Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience! It's a relief to know I'm not alone and that it's likely 'just' the crank sensor. I'll book it in with a mechanic ASAP. They said it was indeed a defective crankshaft sensor and quoted 340€ for the replacement. Thanks again!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the EXACT same symptoms with my Freed. Check engine light, power loss, the works. Crankshaft to camshaft… yeah, that rings a bell. Did you notice any weird noises or anything out of the ordinary before this happened?
