Freemont ABS and Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat Freemont is experiencing an ABS light and system failure, with an error indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. The issue may be due to a defective control unit. Suggestions include checking the yaw rate sensor and wheel alignment, as these could be related to the electronic stability system. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the problem as a faulty lateral acceleration sensor and control unit.

Yaw rate sensor, huh? Where exactly is that located? Is it an easy fix, or do I need special tools? Does it trigger the traction control?

Yeah, traction control went haywire. Honestly, I didn't mess with it myself; too many interconnected systems. Just took it to a workshop. Likely the same defective control unit

Thanks for the tip! Workshop confirmed it's the lateral acceleration sensor and a faulty control unit. Quoted 1000€... ouch. But at least I know what it is.

Sounds familiar. I had similar ABS issues on my Freemont. Was traction control also acting up? Check the yaw rate sensor and wheel alignment too. Could be related to the electronic stability system.
