Freemont Defrost Air Distribution Fault
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2013 Fiat Freemont's defrost air distribution was traced to a fault in the defrost flap motor, with reduced heating output as a symptom. The suspected cause was a bad cable or plug connection to the flap motor. After investigation, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a defective cable and plug connection, which was repaired.

I haven't tested the voltage at the connector yet, but I will. If the recirculation flap was stuck, wouldn't that mainly affect the overall air volume, not just the defrost heating?

A stuck recirculation flap would impact overall volume, but it can also create imbalances in directing warm air. Since the error code points to the defrost flap motor and you're experiencing low heat, I'd suggest a workshop visit for a proper diagnosis, given the air distribution system's complexity.

Got it. Thanks for the input. It was a defective cable and plug connection to the defrost flap motor. Repair cost 95€.

Have you checked the voltage at the flap motor connector when selecting defrost? A multimeter would help confirm power delivery. Is the recirculation flap working correctly? If it's stuck, that could affect air circulation and heating.
