Freemont engine stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Fiat Freemont with a gasoline engine was experiencing stalling and a persistent check engine light. The issue was suspected to be related to the tank ventilation valve, which can affect the EVAP system if faulty or if the connected hoses are clogged. The problem was resolved by replacing the faulty valve and clearing the clogged hoses, resulting in the engine light turning off and the vehicle idling smoothly.

The tank ventilation valve... where is that even located? And how would I check the hoses? I'm not exactly a mechanic, haha.

It's usually near the fuel tank. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with automotive repair, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. A faulty ventilation valve can cause pressure issues that might damage other parts. They can check the valve, the pressure sensor, and the entire EVAP system.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was the tank ventilation valve. Apparently, the hoses were clogged. They replaced it, and it cost me about 175€. The engine light is off, and it idles perfectly now!

I had a similar problem with my Freemont. It could be the tank ventilation valve. When that goes bad, it messes with the EVAP system and can cause all sorts of problems. Have you checked the hoses connected to it? Clogged hoses can cause the same symptoms.
