Freestar Electrical and Navigation Problems

I'm having a terrible time with my 2004 Ford Freestar with a gasoline engine. It only has 59051 km on it, but recently it's been acting bonkers! The computer threw some kind of error, plus it's got a total electrical malfunction that comes and goes all by itself! AND, just to make things even MORE fun, the navigation system is completely dead. I'm thinking it might have to do with the vehicle software – maybe the control unit? Any bright ideas?

The reported symptoms and the error stored in the error memory suggest that the programming of the control unit is implausible. However, to confirm this diagnosis, further information would be required. Have you noticed any other unusual behavior besides what you have described (e.g. issues starting the engine)?

Hi! Thanks so much for getting back to me! No, the engine itself seems to be starting and running fine, I think. You mentioned 'further information' - what kind of further information would be helpful? Maybe I can check some things myself. Seriously - I'm completely lost here with this ECU problems thing.

Given the nature of the issue and the potential consequences of improper handling, I would strongly recommend taking the vehicle to a qualified workshop. It sounds like the programming of the control unit is implausible, which would align with the diagnostic trouble code. The necessary work will likely include a software reset, for which the repair will be in the realm of 240€. Without proper equipment and expertise, attempting repairs yourself could lead to permanent damage to the control module or other vehicle systems.

Wow, thanks for the advice and the cost estimate! I was hoping there was just a simple fix I could find online. Okay, I'm taking it to the pros! Appreciate you taking the time to give me information about this software malfunction. Thank you!!!
