Freestyle Cruise Control Failure

Hi, I've got a 2004 Ford Freestyle with a gasoline engine and my cruise control has just stopped working. I get an error message in the speedometer when I try to activate it, and the cruise control itself doesn't engage. I plugged in an OBD reader and there's an error stored. Any ideas where to start looking? I've checked the basic stuff like fuses, but everything seems okay.

Dude, cruise control problems are the worst! I have a Freestyle too (though I don't remember the exact year) and had something similar happen. Did you check the throttle body connections? A loose cable there can throw things off, or a corroded plug connection too. I know it sounds basic, but those connections can be super sensitive. Have you noticed any other weird electrical glitches?

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the throttle body connections. When you had the issue, did the error message specifically point to that, or was it just a general 'cruise control' error? And did you notice any other symptoms?

Nah, the error was super vague, something about the cruise control module. That's why it took me forever to figure it out! No other symptoms really, just the cruise failing. Honestly, if you're not comfortable digging around too much, might be worth a quick trip to a workshop. They can probably pinpoint the issue quickly, and it might save you some frustration. In my case I ended up going to a workshop and they told me that it was a defective cable or plug connection of the component. It was quickly solved then.

Okay, thanks a lot for your help! I'll check those connections and see if I can spot anything obvious. If not, I'll probably take it to a workshop. They quoted me around 95€, so hopefully, it's something simple like yours was. Appreciate the advice!
