Fullback cruise control failure

I've got a 2018 Fiat Fullback with a diesel engine and about 99000 km on the clock. Recently, my cruise control just stopped working. When I try to engage it, I get an error message popping up in the speedometer. The cruise control simply doesn't activate, and I scanned it and there is an error stored in the error memory. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I'm wondering if it might be a fuse or something simple before I take it to a mechanic.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Fiat Fullback owner experienced a cruise control failure, with an error message appearing on the speedometer. The issue was suspected to be related to a fuse or a simple connection problem. A similar past experience suggested checking the wiring and plugs for corrosion or loose connections. Ultimately, the problem was diagnosed as a defective cable or plug connection, which was resolved by a mechanic.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Insignia. The cruise control packed up, and it turned out to be a dodgy connection. I'd check the wiring and plugs associated with the cruise control actuator. Sometimes a bit of corrosion or a loose connection can cause all sorts of mayhem. Where exactly is the error message popping up?

Thanks for the tip! The error message shows up right in the middle of the speedometer display, just where the cruise control engaged symbol usually is. Is there a specific plug or area I should be focusing on when checking the wiring?

Right, that's the exact same thing I had! Honestly, tracing the wiring loom yourself can be a pain, especially if you're not sure what you're looking for. On my Insignia, it ended up being a broken wire inside the insulation. You could try checking the easy-to-reach connectors first, but I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Save yourself some time and potential headaches!

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the shop, and it turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection of the cruise control. They replaced it and the error is gone. Total cost was 95€. Glad it wasn't anything more serious!
