G Klasse intermittent ignition issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Mercedes G Klasse diesel engine is experiencing intermittent ignition failures, sometimes refusing to start or shutting off while driving. The issue could be related to the ignition coil, starter motor, or a loose electrical connection. It is suggested to check the car's electronics thoroughly and consider trying a different key. Ultimately, visiting a workshop is recommended for a comprehensive diagnosis, as the problem may be more complex than a simple fuse issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the main electrical connections, but maybe I missed something. When you had this, did the engine always fail to start, or was it intermittent like mine? Did any diagnostic codes show up?

It was intermittent for me. No codes that I remember. Honestly, with those symptoms, especially the engine shutting off, I'd suggest going to a workshop. It could be more complex than a simple fuse.

I appreciate the advice. I'll schedule a workshop appointment. It turned out to be a defective fuse costing 52€. Thanks again for your help.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my G Klasse. Did you check the car electronics thoroughly? It could be a loose connection affecting the ignition system. Have you tried a different key?
