G Klasse Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
After changing the fuel filter on a 2018 Mercedes G Klasse, issues such as stalling at idle, reduced power, and a check engine light appeared. These symptoms suggested a problem with the fuel pressure regulator. A workshop diagnosis confirmed the regulator was defective, and replacing it resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yeah, I thought I double-checked everything, but maybe I missed something. Where exactly was the issue on your BMW? Was it obvious, or did you need special tools to find the problem?

Honestly, it wasn't super obvious at first. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They used a fuel pressure tester to pinpoint the pressure drop and engine misfire. The error entry pointed to the fuel regulator in the fuel system. It's probably worth getting yours checked out by someone with the right equipment. Could save you a lot of guesswork!

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info! Took it to the workshop as you suggested, and you were spot on. Error entry after changing the fuel filter. Fuel pressure regulator was indeed defective. Replaced it and it only cost me 45€. Runs like a dream now!

Sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series. The symptoms were almost identical – check engine light, rough idle, the whole shebang. Turned out to be a faulty fuel regulator after messing with the fuel lines. Did you make sure everything was properly connected after changing the filter? Maybe a loose connection somewhere?
