Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me which areas of the harness are most likely to be damaged or disconnected? Are there spots where the harness might rub against other parts, causing wear?

Common failure points are usually where the harness flexes when the tailgate opens and closes. Also check where the harness connects to the tailgate motor and the vehicle body. If you aren't comfortable with electrical diagnostics, it's best to visit a workshop.

Thanks for the help. I checked the wiring harness and found a loose connection at the tailgate motor. After securing it, the error is gone and the tailgate works. I appreciate your assistance.

Sounds like a classic G Wagen tailgate motor issue. The electrical sensor is probably throwing the code because it's not getting a clean signal. Have you checked the sensor wiring harness for any obvious damage or loose connections? That's usually the first place to look before suspecting the sensor itself.
