Galaxy preheating lamp and check engine light

I'm having trouble with my 2003 Ford Galaxy diesel. The preheating lamp stays on, the check engine light is on, and it smokes when I accelerate. I think it's a bad preheating control unit, maybe a faulty cable or plug.

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Galaxy (newer model, though). Preheating lamp staying on, engine light popping up... Sounds familiar! Did you check the connections to the heating module? Mine were a bit corroded, could be the same.

Thanks! Could you tell me where the preheating module connections you checked are located? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing.

Sure! From memory, it's near the ignition system, behind the engine. But tracing the wires from the preheater back to the control unit might be easier. If you're not comfortable, maybe take it to a workshop; the preheating unit can be tricky.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out a cable to the preheating control unit was bad. The repair was 95€! Thanks!
