Getz Automatic Transmission Problems

I'm having an issue with my 2008 Hyundai Getz diesel. It's done 88664 km. The transmission indicator light and check engine light are both on. The automatic transmission is stuck in emergency mode and isn't shifting right - slipping, unclean shifts, even some grinding noises. I checked the error memory and it points to a defective radiator oil pressure. Could this be a faulty oil cooler or a simple coolant leak affecting the pressure sensor? I'm suspecting a cable or plug connection issue. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Hyundai Getz diesel with 88,664 km is experiencing automatic transmission issues, indicated by the transmission and check engine lights being on, and the vehicle being stuck in emergency mode. The problem is suspected to be related to a defective radiator oil pressure reading, potentially caused by a faulty oil cooler, coolant leak, or cable connection issue. After a workshop inspection, the issue was identified as a defective cable connection causing a false reading, which was resolved by cleaning contacts and replacing a section of wiring, restoring proper transmission function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra after the cooler was damaged and the transmission overheated. Error codes weren't the same but the shifting problems were definitely there.

Interesting. Was it a major repair, or something relatively simple? Did it also put your Astra in emergency mode? Trying to figure out how deep I need to dig here.

Yeah, limp mode kicked in. It wasn't catastrophic, but tracking it down was a pain. Ended up being a faulty sensor connection due to corrosion. I would suggest visiting a workshop. They can run more precise diagnostics.

Thanks for the advice! I had the Getz checked at the workshop. Turns out you were right, it was a defective cable connection causing a false radiator oil pressure reading. They cleaned the contacts and replaced a small section of wiring. Cost me 95€ and it's shifting perfectly now.
