Getz Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Hyundai Getz experienced engine stalling and a check engine light, potentially due to issues with the fuel tank ventilation system. A faulty activated charcoal filter, part of the evaporative emission control system, was suspected to cause a vacuum leak, affecting the air/fuel mixture. The solution involved replacing the charcoal filter, which resolved the stalling issue and turned off the check engine light.

No gas smell or hissing sounds. Can you explain more about the charcoal filter and what happens if it fails, besides what I've already seen?

Sure. The activated charcoal filter is key for your car's evaporative emission control system (EVAP). It grabs fuel vapors from the tank, so they don't go into the air. When running, the purge valve opens, and the engine burns those vapors. A bad filter can make fuel vapors leak. EVAP issues are tricky to diagnose and affect emissions, so I'd suggest a workshop check for leaks. They have tools to find the leak's source.

Took it to a workshop, and it was a bad charcoal filter. Cost 275€ for parts and labor. Check engine light is off, and the engine isn't stalling anymore. Thanks!

That sounds like a few things, but on a Getz that age, I'd guess a problem with the fuel tank ventilation system. The check engine light and stalling, especially at idle, can be from a leak messing up the air/fuel mix. Any gas smell? The activated charcoal filter, which traps fuel vapors, is often the issue. If it goes bad, it can cause a vacuum leak, pulling extra air into the engine. Hear any hissing near the fuel tank when it's running?
