Getz Engine Stalling At Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Hyundai Getz with a gasoline engine is experiencing stalling at idle, particularly when cold, and the check engine light is on. The error memory indicates an issue with the idle air control (IAC) valve, suspected to be caused by a dirty intake. The suggested solution is to inspect and clean the air intake and IAC valve, which resolved the problem after professional servicing.

Thanks! Did this happen sometimes, or all the time? Did you clean the IAC valve yourself, or take it to a shop? What did you clean?

For me, it got worse over a few weeks. It started with rough idling sometimes, then stalling a lot. I didn't clean it myself because I'm not good with car repairs. I took it to a shop, which I think is best for you.

Thanks. I'll get my mechanic to check the intake and IAC valve. It was exactly as you said: very dirty intake and faulty valve. Total cost 425€, all fixed.

Sounds familiar. My Getz had similar symptoms. The engine stalling at idle was a nightmare, especially at stoplights. I'd check the air intake first for anything blocking it or too much dirt. Inspect the idle air control valve itself for damage or blockage. Cleaning it might fix it.
