GLA diesel tire pressure sensor issue

I'm getting a weird error on my 2014 Mercedes GLA diesel. The display says the tire pressure is too low, and the tire pressure warning light is on. I've checked all the tires, and they're inflated properly. The error is also stored in the error memory. I suspect it might be a tire pressure sensor issue, maybe the sensor battery is dead? Has anyone else had a similar issue?

I experienced a similar issue with my Mercedes GLA. The error message and symptoms you described align with my experience. Have you checked the air valve stems for any damage or corrosion?

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't specifically checked the valve stems. How would corrosion there cause a sensor fault? I thought they were sealed units.

Corrosion can interfere with the sensor's ability to accurately measure the tire pressure. It’s like a clogged artery in a human. However, given the error message and consistently normal tire inflation, the sensor battery is likely the culprit. I would recommend visiting a workshop to confirm the diagnosis and replace the faulty sensor. In my case the repair cost was around 280€.

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I took it to the workshop and, just as you suspected, it was a dead sensor battery. Replaced the sensor and all good now. Appreciate the advice!
