GLA Hybrid Fuel Flap Problem

My 2020 Mercedes GLA hybrid fuel flap release is not working I get an error stored in the error memory, and the fuel filler flap refuses to budge whether I try locking or unlocking it It's completely stuck This also seems to be impacting some other functions of the vehicle I'm suspecting it might be a defective linkage Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, what was the fix

Sounds like the lock actuator for the fuel filler door might be the culprit Think of it like a deadbolt on your front door, but for your fuel door Is the release button inside the car doing anything at all when you press it Or is it completely unresponsive If it's unresponsive, it could be an electrical issue preventing the signal from reaching the lock actuator You might want to check the fuse box first; a blown fuse is an easy fix But given the error code and other functions being affected, I would lean towards the actuator itself failing

Thanks for the insight The release button seems dead – no sound, no movement, nothing I'll check the fuses, but if it is the lock actuator, is that something I can reasonably replace myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop And if it's the actuator, why would that affect other vehicle functions

If the release button is completely dead, checking the fuses is definitely the first step, like checking if the power is on before blaming the lightbulb Replacing the lock actuator itself isn't terribly difficult in some cars, but on a GLA, access might be tricky, and you'll need to be comfortable working with trim and possibly some electrical connectors Given the error code and the mention of other vehicle functions being affected, there might be a deeper issue at play The actuator might be connected to a control module that's also responsible for other systems Because of the other symptoms you mentioned, I would cautiously suggest visiting a workshop to have it properly diagnosed They can pinpoint the problem and prevent you from potentially causing further issues

Appreciate the advice I took it to a local independent Mercedes mechanic, and you were spot on The lock actuator was indeed the problem, and they replaced it Total cost was 210€ Glad I didn't try to tackle it myself, considering the other systems involved Thanks again
