GLC AC Issue Temperature Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mercedes GLC is experiencing an issue where the AC won't switch on, and an error message appears on the speedometer. Diagnostics indicate a problem with the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger, potentially caused by a defective AC control unit. The suggested solution involves replacing the control unit and adapting the sensor, with a repair cost of approximately 1000€. Another owner with a similar issue confirmed that adaptation of the sensor is necessary after replacement.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

No visible coolant leak that I could see. The temperature gauge seemed normal before the error. The shop mentioned something about the sensor needing adaptation after the new unit is installed. Is this what you mean by sensor calibration? Did yours throw the same error codes?

Yes, adaptation is what I meant. In my case it was very similar. The error codes pointed to the heat exchanger sensor. Eventually the whole AC stopped working. The temperature gauge behaved normally most of the time, then suddenly it didn't. If it's the AC control unit, that price sounds about right. Better get it sorted before summer hits!

Sounds like I'm headed for the workshop then. Good to know someone else had a similar experience. At least I know what to expect. I appreciate the help!

Hmm, sounds familiar. I have a GLC as well. Was there any sign of a coolant leak? My temperature gauge was acting strangely before my AC completely gave up. Did they mention anything about sensor calibration? I wonder if it's the same issue.
