GLC Diesel Variable Timing Problem Anyone Seen This

My 2021 Mercedes GLC diesel has about 248048 km. The check engine light is on, and my fuel consumption is up. I suspect the inlet VANOS mechanics are faulty, maybe a camshaft solenoid valve or power issue. Has anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue with my GLC. Check engine light and increased fuel consumption were the first signs. It could be VANOS failure. Did you notice any engine misfire or low power?

Yes, there's a slight engine misfire at idle, and it feels like it's lost some power. What was the problem with yours?

Sounds like it. I had a defect in the camshaft solenoid valves. I suggest going to the workshop, as the mechanics will be able to diagnose the issue further.

Thanks. I took it to the shop, and you were right it was the camshaft solenoid valve. Cost me around 250€. Runs much better now.
