GLC Hybrid Brake Pedal Feedback Issue

I'm getting weird brake pedal feedback in my 2016 Mercedes GLC hybrid with 16903 km on the clock. It's like a shudder. I initially thought it was the metal brakes needing to warm up, but it's persistent. I've checked the brake fluid level, which seems fine, and visually inspected the brake pads - they look okay for the mileage. Could it be something to do with the hybrid brake system? I read that undervoltage can mess with the ABS and cause brake issues. What do you think?

The shudder you are experiencing certainly warrants further investigation. You mentioned undervoltage as a potential cause. Have you observed any other electrical anomalies in the vehicle, such as flickering lights or slow starting? The brake system in a hybrid vehicle is more complex than a traditional system and relies heavily on electronic control. A diagnostic scan might reveal underlying issues related to the ABS or other components of the brake calipers. Have you considered inspecting the condition of your brake lines?

Well, the lights seem fine, and the car starts without a problem. So, the undervoltage thing was just a shot in the dark really. When you say 'diagnostic scan', are we talking about some fancy computer thing? And what should I even be looking for regarding the brake calipers? Are there telltale signs of failure, other than obvious leaks?

Yes, a diagnostic scan involves using specialized equipment to read error codes stored in the vehicle's computer. These codes can provide valuable insights into potential issues with the brake system and related components. As for the brake calipers, check for signs of corrosion, sticking, or uneven wear on the brake pads. Given the symptoms and your vehicle's hybrid system, it would be prudent to have a qualified technician evaluate the situation. I strongly suggest you visit your local service point to have a detailed diagnosis and inspection performed.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out it WAS related to undervoltage! Apparently, it messed with the brake system's control module. Got it sorted at the workshop; they recalibrated everything and checked the brake fluid. Cost me around 240€ but now the brakes feel normal again. Appreciate the help!
