Yes, starting is rough. What do you mean by sensor testing? Is that something I can do myself?

Sensor testing involves checking the sensor's signal with a multimeter or scan tool to see if it is within the expected range. Given the symptoms, it might be caused by a defective encoder wheel on the camshafts. I advise taking it to a qualified workshop to get it properly diagnosed. This could avoid replacing the wrong part.

Thanks. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. It was the camshaft sensor. Repair cost 695€. All seems ok now.

I had a similar issue with my GLE. The check engine light came on, and the engine was stalling at idle. The camshaft position sensor may be faulty. This sensor provides data to the engine control unit. I suggest sensor testing before replacing parts. Did you notice any problems starting the car?
