Thanks for your reply The knocking seems to be more pronounced when the engine is warm, and now that you mention it, there is a kind of rattling sound too I have been using regular fuel with an octane rating of 95 Could that be the culprit, or are we talking about something more serious

Using a lower fuel octane could possibly contribute, but with those symptoms, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a reputable workshop My issue turned out to be significant carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, causing pre-ignition and knocking Ignoring it could cause serious engine damage down the road I ended up having to get the cylinder heads cleaned

I appreciate your advice, it seems that you have accurately diagnosed my issue I took it to a mechanic, and as you suspected, heavy carbon deposits were indeed the cause The mechanic cleaned the combustion chamber, and now the car runs smoothly again The whole repair including the cleaning of the intake valves and new gaskets cost me 425€ Thank you, once again

I had a similar issue with my GLE, though I can't recall all the specifics I had engine knock and jerking when accelerating Did you check for any unusual noises besides the knocking Do you notice it more when the engine is cold or hot If it is deposits, which fuel octane are you currently using
