GLE Multifunction Steering Wheel Issue

My 2020 Mercedes GLE with a gasoline engine has a non-functional multifunction steering wheel. All steering controls are dead, and vehicle diagnostics says there's an error stored. Mileage is at 68150 km. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar connectivity problem with my GLE, though it presented a bit differently at first. Have you checked for any obvious sensor issue or electrical fault around the steering wheel? Sometimes it's a loose connection.

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't really dug into it myself. I'm not super confident poking around the electrics. What exactly did you check when yours acted up?

Honestly, I didn't do much troubleshooting myself beyond checking the basic fuses. These new cars are so complex; it's often better to leave it to the pros. The error code you're getting points to a deeper electrical fault. I'd suggest getting vehicle diagnostics run at a workshop. It could save you time and potential headaches.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. Dropped it off at the shop, and you were right, it was a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
