GLK central locking malfunction

My 2012 Mercedes GLK with a gasoline engine has a central locking malfunction at 229442 km I can't lock or unlock the doors using the remote or the key, and there's an error registered I suspect a cable or plug issue, with an estimated repair cost of 95€ The car alarm, door locks, remote locking, central locking and the security system are not working at all Any suggestions are appreciated

Whoa, that sounds super frustrating I had a similar problem with my old Fiat Punto, but the door locks were acting up in a weird way The remote locking just quit working, and I had to manually lock and unlock each door like some kind of caveman It drove me nuts because the car alarm wouldn't set properly either Did you check the fuses Sounds basic, but that was the first thing I looked at Also, is the error code specific Knowing that might help narrow down which part of the central locking is causing the grief It could be anything from a dodgy door lock actuator to a problem with the receiver for the remote locking signal Good luck

Thank you for your response Regarding your suggestion to check the fuses, could you please provide more specific guidance I am uncertain which fuse is directly associated with the central locking system in my vehicle Also, you mentioned a 'door lock actuator' Could you elaborate on the location and function of this component I am trying to understand the system better before I take it in for repair Is this part of the security system

No worries Yeah, finding the right fuse can be a pain Usually, there's a diagram on the fuse box cover or in the owner's manual that shows what each fuse controls Definitely check that first As for the door lock actuator, it's basically a small electric motor inside the door that physically moves the lock mechanism when you use the remote or the key It's usually attached to the door lock itself If it's failing, it might not be getting enough power or the motor could be shot Honestly, troubleshooting that stuff can be a real headache If you're not super confident with car electrics, it might be worth biting the bullet and taking it to a workshop At least they can diagnose it properly and won't mess up your car alarm It sounds like it's the best way to go

I extend my sincere gratitude for your assistance Your explanation regarding the door lock actuator and the fuse identification process proved particularly helpful Based on your recommendation, and after further consideration, I decided to entrust the repair to a qualified technician As it turned out, the issue was indeed traced to a faulty plug connection, precisely as initially suspected The repair cost aligned with the initial estimate The central locking and remote locking are now functioning normally Thank you again for your valuable insights
