GLS Headlight and Windshield Washer Issue

My 2020 GLS hybrid has a headlight cleaning system that stopped working, and the windshield washer system is also inoperative. I've checked the fuses. Could this be a defective cable connection, a faulty relay, or a leak in a hose?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 GLS hybrid experienced simultaneous failure of the headlight cleaning and windshield washer systems. Initial checks of the fuses were inconclusive, leading to speculation about potential causes such as defective cable connections, faulty relays, or hose leaks. A suggestion to inspect the wiring harness near the pump revealed a corroded connector and a cracked hose, which were replaced, resolving the issue. This repair was significantly less costly than anticipated, highlighting the importance of checking connections before considering more expensive solutions.

I had almost the exact same thing happen on my GLS. Washer fluid wouldn't spray, and the headlight washers were dead too. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I never thought a simple issue could cause such a headache with both systems failing at the same time. Before you go spending a fortune, did you check the wiring harness near the pump itself? Apparently, they're known to corrode or get damaged. Worth a look before you start replacing parts. Also, are you sure the pump isn't just burned out?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check the wiring harness. When this happened to you, did you hear any unusual noises from the pump area before it stopped working? Did it fail suddenly, or was there a gradual decline?

Mine happened pretty suddenly, no warning noises or anything. Just stopped working one day. I messed with it for a while, checked fuses, etc., but couldn't figure it out. Finally, I just took it to my mechanic. He found a bad connection and a cracked hose. Honestly, it was such a relief to get it fixed. I'd say check that harness carefully, but if you're not comfortable, it might be worth having a professional take a look.

Thanks for the advice. I checked the wiring harness and found a corroded connector. After replacing the connector and a small section of hose, the system works perfectly. The repair cost 165€, much less than the dealership's estimate. Your help saved me money and trouble.
