GLS Hybrid Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Issue

My 2023 Mercedes GLS Hybrid has a transmission oil pressure sensor fault at just under 30000 kilometers The engine warning light is on and the gearbox is in emergency mode with slippage unclean shifts and grinding noises Could low oil cause these symptoms including the sensor fault

I had a similar issue with my GLS though it's not a hybrid The first sign was the transmission warning light Did you check the basics What does the oil pressure reading show Is it fluctuating or consistently low A faulty pressure switch could trigger a sensor fault even with correct pressure A sensor replacement might fix it Remember oil pressure acts as a pressure gauge inside your transmission and relies on the transmission sensor to show if you have enough oil pressure

I appreciate the quick response I haven't directly measured the oil pressure My tool only reports the generic 'transmission oil pressure sensor fault' error code How can I test the pressure switch or sensor to see if they work before deeper work

Without live data finding the cause is hard You need a scan tool that reads the oil pressure value directly from the pressure gauge which is beyond basic checks The pressure switch is just on or off it doesn't give a pressure reading Your shifting issues suggest more than a simple sensor Given your symptoms especially the grinding don't drive it further Take it to a trusted workshop to avoid more damage

Thanks for the advice I had the car taken to a Mercedes-Benz service center The diagnosis was low transmission oil and a faulty transmission oil pressure sensor The sensor was replaced the oil was refilled and the repair cost 365€ The transmission seems okay Your insights helped me decide what to do and I appreciate your help
