Grandland X belt tensioner failure

I'm writing to ask about a potential issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Grandland X diesel. It has 161700 km, and it seems the belt tensioner is failing. The belt handover no longer works. I suspect a defective belt bringer/handover itself. Has anyone experienced this?

Hey, I had something similar with my Grandland X. Is it making a squealing noise, especially when the engine is cold?

Yes, the squealing is quite noticeable, particularly when starting the engine. Does that confirm it was the tensioner pulley in your case as well?

Sounds like it. I wouldn't risk it for too long. Best get it checked at a workshop. It could damage the belt drive.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and they confirmed the tensioner pulley was defective. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 455€. Hopefully this resolves the issue for good.
