Grandland X check engine light fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Vauxhall Grandland X is experiencing a persistent check engine light and increased fuel consumption. The issue may be related to faulty Inlet VANOS mechanics, similar to BMW's variable timing problems, possibly involving a defective camshaft solenoid valve or power supply. A suggested solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired to prevent further damage.

No, I haven't noticed any engine misfires, just the check engine light and increased fuel consumption. How did you figure out it was the solenoid valve on your Kadjar? Did you have to replace it?

I took it to a mechanic. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed the faulty solenoid valve. It's a common issue, apparently. It's best to get it checked out professionally because it could cause more damage if left unfixed. Prepare for a 250€ bill!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I'll take it to a workshop to have it checked out. I appreciate the advice!

I had a similar problem with my 2015 Renault Kadjar. The check engine light was on, and the fuel consumption was terrible. I did some digging, and it turned out to be a problem with a solenoid valve that controls the variable valve timing. Is your engine misfiring at all?
