Grandland X Crankcase Ventilation Issue
Summary of the thread
The owner of a 2022 Vauxhall Grandland X hybrid with 181,392 km is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, and smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the crankcase ventilation valve. A similar case with a Volvo indicated that unmetered air leaking into the intake manifold could cause such problems. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a professional to confirm and address the crankcase ventilation issue.

Thanks. I have seen a slight increase in fuel consumption, but nothing dramatic. What specific issues did you face with your Volvo, and how did you diagnose the crankcase ventilation valve?

Okay, slight fuel increase points more towards that valve. Unmetered air was leaking into the intake manifold, messing with the fuel/air mixture. I got a fault code mentioning the PCV system. Given your symptoms, mileage, and fuel consumption, get it checked by a professional. Could be other things, but it sounds like a crankcase ventilation problem. Don't ignore the smoke!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I'll book a mechanic to inspect and replace the crankcase ventilation valve, if needed. The repair ended up costing 360€.

Sounds like a crankcase ventilation issue. My old Volvo had similar symptoms - check engine light, rough idling. If it's the valve, you might even hear hissing. Is your fuel consumption higher?
