Grandland X Exhaust Flap Issue

Thanks for the reply. My mechanic mentioned a possible malfunction in the exhaust flaps, but didn't elaborate on any potential exhaust blockage. Are you referring to a blockage upstream or downstream of the exhaust flaps? Also, did the error memory point to a specific issue with the exhaust system, or was it a more generic engine fault code?

In my case, the blockage seemed to be connected to the exhaust flap mechanism itself, restricting its movement and triggering the error code. While I am not a qualified mechanic, it seemed plausible that the flap was sticking, leading to increased back pressure and the altered exhaust sound you're describing. Given your symptoms and the stored error, I strongly recommend having a workshop examine the exhaust flaps and the surrounding area more closely. Continuing to drive with a faulty exhaust system can potentially damage other engine components.

I appreciate the detailed feedback. Based on your experience and the mechanic's initial diagnosis, I've decided to proceed with replacing the exhaust flaps. The total repair cost came to 190€. Thanks again for your assistance and insights into this irritating exhaust noise issue.

I have a Grandland X as well, and your situation sounds eerily familiar to what I experienced some months ago. I noticed a change in the exhaust note, almost a raspiness, and also observed a slight decrease in overall engine performance. Did your mechanic happen to mention anything about a potential exhaust blockage? It might be beneficial to check for any unusual restrictions within the exhaust system, as this could also contribute to the error you are seeing.
