GrandlandX Active Hood Fault

My 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X gasoline has a persistent "Active hood fault" message and the airbag warning light is on. Diagnostics show an error, and the spring actuators seem to have been triggered! Has anyone encountered this? Could a defective acceleration sensor be the cause?

That sounds familiar. My old Volvo V60 had similar warnings, airbag light, and error codes. Are you sure about the acceleration sensor? In my case, it was the crash detection system, triggered by faulty impact sensors.

The acceleration sensor was just a guess. You mentioned the crash detection system and impact sensors on your Volvo… could you elaborate? Did your Volvo also spontaneously trigger any safety features, like my Grandland X and its spring actuators?

Yes, my Volvo activated some safety features unexpectedly, though not the active hood. Given the similarities, I suggest taking your car to a workshop experienced in modern collision detection systems. It's complex, and the diagnosis needs to be spot-on to avoid unnecessary replacements. It can save you time and money!

I took the Grandland X to a collision detection specialist. You were right! The acceleration sensor was defective, triggering the active hood system. Repair cost was 315€, including parts and labor. Thanks for the help!
