GrandlandX Hybrid Bouncing Issue: Damper System Alert

Hey everyone, my 2021 Vauxhall GrandlandX Hybrid has developed a serious bouncing issue lately. The car's excessively bouncing on bumps and there's a warning light on the dashboard. I suspect it might be related to the chassis damper adjustment system. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their GrandlandX? Would love to hear what the issue turned out to be and how your workshop fixed it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Corsa-e last year. The bouncing problem and warning light definitely rings a bell! Turned out it was a faulty cable connection to the damper control unit. Got it fixed at my local workshop, they had to replace some wiring and recalibrate the system. Cost me around 155€ in total. Could you tell me if you notice the bouncing more at certain speeds or on specific road surfaces? Also, which warning light exactly are you seeing? This info would help me understand if it's the same problem I had. If it's similar to my case, I'd recommend getting it checked ASAP, these suspension issues can get worse pretty quickly! Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, the bouncing is most noticeable between 40-60 mph, especially on uneven roads. The warning light is the yellow suspension icon, looks like a car with wavy lines underneath. Last service was about 3 months ago, and I'm now at 128143 KM. I appreciate your insight about the cable connection, that actually makes a lot of sense because I've noticed the bouncing gets worse in wet weather. I'll definitely get it checked out at the workshop before it gets any worse. Did you notice if your steering felt any different when you had this issue? Thanks for the help!

Hey again! Yeah, that's exactly the same warning light I had! And now that you mention the wet weather connection, I'm even more convinced it's similar to what I experienced. With my Corsa-e, I definitely noticed the steering felt a bit "floaty" at times, especially when hitting those uneven patches at the speeds you mentioned. Just to add to my previous response, in my case, the moisture was actually getting into a small crack in the cable insulation, which is why it got worse in wet weather. The mechanics told me this is a known weak point in some Vauxhall models. After they fixed it, it was like driving a completely different car! One thing I learned, don't try to "wait it out" like I initially did. I drove around with the issue for about two weeks before getting it fixed, and my mechanic said I was lucky not to damage other components. The 155€ I spent was probably a bargain compared to what it could have cost if I'd left it longer. Let me know how you get on at the workshop. Really curious to hear if it's the same issue! Take care!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful, especially about the moisture getting into the cable insulation. You've pretty much convinced me it's the same issue, especially since our symptoms match so closely. The "floaty" steering you mentioned is exactly what I'm experiencing too! I've already called my local workshop and booked it in for tomorrow morning. Definitely don't want to risk causing more damage by waiting around. The price you mentioned seems pretty reasonable, so fingers crossed mine will be in the same ballpark. I'll update you once I get it back from the workshop. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's made me feel a lot more confident about what I'm dealing with! Thanks again!
