The HVAC system seems completely dead, no airflow at all. I have not checked the fuse yet; where is it typically located?

If the HVAC system is totally unresponsive, and you haven't checked the fuse, that's the first thing to look at. Fuse box diagrams are usually in your owner's manual, or sometimes printed on the fuse box cover itself. However, given the error code and the mileage, if the fuse is fine, it really does point to the blower motor needing replacement. It's like a clogged artery – eventually, the system just can't push through. At 186,000+ km, it wouldn't be surprising. You might be able to replace it yourself if you're handy, but honestly, it's often easier to just take it to a workshop.

Thank you for the advice. I took the car to a workshop, and you were correct. The blower motor was defective. The repair cost 365€ including labor.

Sounds like your blower motor might have given up the ghost. Think of it like a lightbulb filament burning out after too many hours. Does the HVAC system still seem to be trying to adjust the airflow, or is it completely dead air? Have you checked the fuse for the blower motor?
