Groove Rain Light Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Groove experienced issues with the rain-light sensor, affecting automatic wiping, headlight control, and speedometer dimming. The problem was traced to bubbles under the gel pad of the ambient light sensor, located near the rearview mirror. Replacing the gel pad resolved the issues, restoring the sensor's functionality.

Bubbles, you say? I haven't really checked for that specifically. Where exactly is the sensor located, and would those bubbles really screw things up that badly?

The ambient light sensor is typically situated near the base of the rearview mirror, where it interfaces with the windshield. The presence of air bubbles beneath the gel pad can indeed compromise the sensor's readings. In such cases, I suggest consulting a qualified service center for a comprehensive evaluation.

Thanks for the insight! I checked, and there were bubbles under the gel pad just like you said. Took it to the shop, and they replaced the gel pad. Cost me about 62€, but everything's working again!

It sounds like you are encountering several issues potentially stemming from a malfunctioning ambient light sensor. Have you observed any physical anomalies on the windshield, particularly near the sensor location? Bubbles forming under the gel pad could be a factor disrupting the sensor's performance. Considering the interconnected nature of car electronics, a fault in the light sensor circuit may affect other functions like speedometer dimming due to shared communication protocols. Have you attempted to perform any diagnostics beyond reading the error memory?
