GS rough idle and stalling

I've got a 2017 Lexus GS with a gasoline engine. It's done about 160000 km. Lately, the engine's been running really rough, especially when idling – sometimes it even stalls. The check engine light is on, and it feels like it's jerking when I try to accelerate. I had a look and the cables and plugs all seem ok, maybe I should check them again? Anyone else had something similar?

I've got a GS too, and those symptoms sound a lot like what happened when one of my ignition coils went bad. Misfires can cause all sorts of issues, including the rough running and stalling you're describing. Definitely worth checking those coil packs, although it can be tricky to diagnose without proper tools.

Thanks for the tip! How did you figure out it was the ignition coil? Was it obvious when you looked at it, or did you have to do some kind of testing?

Well, I didn't figure it out myself initially. The check engine light was the giveaway for me, so I took it to a workshop. They ran a diagnostic and told me which coil was misfiring. Replacing it sorted everything out. Best get it checked.

Alright, sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. Thanks for sharing your experience! It ended up being a defective ignition coil, like you said. The cable was faulty, the workshop charged me 95€ to get it fixed. Runs like a dream now.
