GT86 Automatic Transmission Converter Fault

I'm really stressed! My 2015 Toyota GT86, gasoline engine, is giving me major headaches. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are both on. It feels like the gearbox slips, shifts are unclean, and I even hear grinding noises sometimes. The error memory has a fault stored; they say it's likely a defective automatic transmission converter. Anyone else had this?

I had something similar happen in my GT86. Was it the torque converter? They call it a converter fault or converter failure sometimes, something with the lock-up clutch. Does it happen when you're shifting?

Yep, same deal. Grinding noises, slipping, all the lights. I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Turned out the automatic transmission converter was indeed defective. Cost me a pretty penny.
