GT86 Overheating Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Toyota GT86 is experiencing overheating and a check engine light, with a diagnostic scan indicating an active air flap fault. The issue may be caused by a defective electromechanism related to the air flap. The suggested solution is to have the electromechanism checked and potentially replaced at a workshop.

Yes, the fault code pointed to the active air flap. Did you experience the same issue, and what was the fix?

Yep, same here. I tried a few things, but nothing worked. Bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Cost around 590€, but at least it's fixed. Probably best to get it checked out.

Thanks for confirming. I'll schedule an appointment with a workshop to get the active air flap electromechanism replaced.

I drive a GT86 too. Overheating and check engine light... sounds familiar. Was the fault code related to the air intake?
