GTR High Fuel Consumption Poor Starting
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Nissan GTR owner reported issues with high fuel consumption and poor starting. The problem was suspected to be related to the air intake or throttle valve. Another GTR owner suggested checking the accelerator pedal module, as it could cause similar symptoms. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that a defective accelerator pedal module was causing the throttle valve issue, and replacing it resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the accelerator pedal module specifically. Is that something I can easily test myself, or does it require special equipment? And if the throttle valve is indeed the culprit, is replacement the only option?

While you could try some basic checks with a multimeter, diagnosing the accelerator pedal module accurately often requires specialized diagnostic tools. It's best left to a workshop, in my opinion. If it is the throttle valve, cleaning it might help temporarily, but usually, a defective throttle valve needs replacement for a permanent fix. That's what I had to do. I ended up taking mine to a shop.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – it was indeed a defective accelerator pedal module causing the throttle valve issue. Got it replaced, and the total repair cost was 205€. The car is running much better now!

Hey there! I drive a GTR too, and those symptoms sound familiar. Higher fuel consumption and poor starting could definitely point to a problem with your throttle valve, which is the control valve regulating how much air goes into your engine to manage engine idle and throttle response. Have you checked your accelerator pedal module? A defective accelerator pedal module can cause those issues. It's the part that translates your foot movement into a signal for the engine.
