GTR Overheating Radiator Fan Issue

My 2013 Nissan GTR with a gasoline engine is overheating badly at only 42792 km. The check engine light is on. I suspect the radiator fan because it sounds terrible when it spins, and sometimes it doesn't spin at all. Could a defective speed sensor cause the radiator fan to go bonkers?

I had a similar overheating issue with my GTR. It sounds like the fan motor is failing. A defective speed sensor can indeed cause some weird electrical problems, impacting the fan's operation. Is the fan making any unusual noises besides the 'dying cat,' like excessive vibration or grinding?

Thanks! Yes, sometimes it vibrates like crazy, like it's about to shake itself loose. And there is some grinding sometimes. Do you think it's definitely the fan motor itself and something related to the speed sensor?

Yes, based on my experience, that grinding and the excessive vibration strongly suggest a failing fan motor. The speed sensor can send wrong signals, so that might exacerbate the issue. It might be more complex than a simple fix; I'd recommend taking it to a qualified workshop to pinpoint the exact cause and prevent further damage.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot-on! The speed sensor was indeed faulty, which led to the fan motor overheating and eventually dying. New sensor, new fan motor, total cost 250€, and she's purring like a kitten again. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
