Hiace engine power loss

Hey, I've got a 2007 Toyota Hiace with a diesel engine. Lately, the check engine light's been on, and the engine feels like it's lost power. Engine response is sluggish, and I'm burning through more fuel than usual. I'm suspecting it's something to do with the boost pressure, maybe a sensor or a vacuum leak. Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Hiace a while back. Check your intake manifold and the pressure sensor, it might be related to the boost controller.

Thanks for the tip! When you say intake manifold, are you referring to a specific location or component? And was your fuel consumption also noticeably higher?

Yeah, the fuel consumption was definitely up. Turned out to be a faulty vacuum switching valve. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop, they'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – vacuum switching valve was the culprit. New one cost me 140€, and the van's running like a champ again.
