Highlander low brake fluid

I've got a 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid with 163234 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the brake fluid level is consistently low and I'm getting some strange feedback from the brake pedal. I've checked for obvious leaks around the master cylinder and calipers, but haven't found anything. Anyone experienced this?

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Highlander. I'd check your brake pads and rotors. When they wear down, the brake fluid level drops as the calipers have to extend further. It may be worth a quick brake inspection.

Thanks for the tip! That makes sense. How quickly did you notice your fluid dropping, and did the brake warning light come on?

The fluid dropped gradually over a few weeks but no warning light. I'd get it checked by a workshop to be sure the brake system is still working correctly and isn't leaking. Turns out for me, it was just worn brakes as I suspected.

Appreciate the help! I booked a brake inspection. Turns out, it was indeed worn front brakes like you suggested. Got the brakes replaced, along with a fluid replacement, and the total came to 480€. All good now.
