Highlander Oxygen Sensor Heater Error

I've got a 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid with about 148,657 km on it. Recently, the check engine light came on, and I'm getting an error related to the oxygen sensor heater. I've also noticed my fuel consumption has gone up a bit. I suspect it might be a faulty connection. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ugh, check engine lights are the worst! I had a similar issue with my old car. Did you try checking the O2 sensor's wiring harness and plug for any obvious damage or corrosion? Sometimes, it's just a loose connection. Maybe try wiggling the wires a bit while the engine is running to see if anything changes?

Good call on the wiring, I'll give that a look. When you say 'wiggling', do you mean literally just giving the wires a little shake? Or is there a more precise way to test the connection? I don't want to accidentally make things worse.

Yeah, just a gentle wiggle to see if the engine stumbles or the light flickers. If you're not comfortable doing that, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. Oxygen sensors can be a pain, and you don't want to mess with the vehicle emissions system too much. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I checked the wiring and didn't see anything obvious, so I took it to my local mechanic. Turns out it was a bad connection, just like we suspected. They fixed it for 95€, and the check engine light is gone. Appreciate the help!
