Hilux low heating output

Hi, I have a 2006 Toyota Hilux with a diesel engine. Recently, the heating output has been too low, especially noticeable on colder days. I scanned for errors and found one stored. I suspect a defective water valve might be the cause. I checked the visible wiring and connectors, but everything seems to be in order. The mileage is 128232 km. Any ideas?

Valve blockage is possible, or the connection to the heater core. Have you checked the coolant level? Low coolant can cause poor heating. A defective thermostat could also be the culprit, preventing the engine from reaching optimal temperature.

Coolant level is fine, I already checked that. The thermostat seems okay too, the engine warms up normally. Could a faulty cable or plug connection to the water valve really cause this much trouble?

Yes, a bad connection can definitely cause the symptoms you described. A poor connection will affect the valve's operation. However, it's best to get it properly diagnosed. Take it to a workshop.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective water valve with a faulty connector, just as you suspected. The repair cost 95€, including parts and labor. Heating works perfectly now.
