Thanks for sharing your experience! My Accord's at 277948 KM and had its last service about 3 months ago. Yeah, I've got those same symptoms you mentioned, the dim lights and weird starts are really getting on my nerves. There's this faint clicking sound when I start up, and the battery light started flashing on the dash just last week. The issues began about a month ago, started pretty subtle but getting worse now. Good to know about the generator fix working for you. Was a bit worried it might be something more complicated with the hybrid system. Guess I should get it checked out soon before it leaves me stranded somewhere! Did your mechanic mention if this is a common issue with Honda hybrids?

Hey again! Thanks for those details about your Accord. Yeah, those symptoms are giving me flashbacks to my situation! That clicking sound you mentioned? Had exactly the same thing with my Insight before everything went south. When I took mine in, my mechanic actually did mention that generator issues aren't uncommon in Honda hybrids, especially once they hit around 250-300K. But the good news is it's a pretty straightforward fix for someone who knows what they're doing. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, before I got it fixed, I started carrying a portable jump starter just in case. Saved my bacon a couple times when the car wouldn't start! Might be worth grabbing one while you're getting this sorted out. The flashing battery light is definitely the same issue I had. Once mine started flashing, things went downhill pretty quick. I'd say don't wait too long to get it checked, I learned that lesson the hard way when mine completely died in the middle of running errands! Trust me, you'll feel the difference immediately after the generator's replaced. My Insight feels like a completely different car now, starts up strong, lights are bright, and all the electrical systems work perfectly. The ABS came back online right away too. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out! Always curious to hear if others' experiences match up with mine.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. That portable jump starter tip is super helpful, definitely gonna pick one up this weekend just to be safe. You're right about not waiting too long; I've already called my mechanic and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning. Really don't want to risk getting stranded! It's actually pretty reassuring to hear this is a known issue with Honda hybrids at this mileage. Was worried I might've somehow messed something up! Makes me feel better knowing it's just regular wear and tear, and that the fix made such a big difference for you. Can't wait to have my car back to normal, especially that ABS system. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's helped me feel much more confident about getting this sorted out!

Hey there! I had a somewhat similar situation with my 2018 Honda Insight (also hybrid). I've got some experience working on cars, but nothing too advanced. Your symptoms sound exactly like what I dealt with last year. For me, it turned out to be a faulty generator. The warning signs were pretty much identical, dim lights, weak starts, unusual shutoffs. My ABS was acting up too. Took it to my regular workshop, and they confirmed it was a dead generator after running diagnostics. The whole thing, including labor and parts, set me back about 960 Euro. The repair took about a day and a half, but everything's been running smoothly since. Before I can give you more specific advice though, Current mileage? Any warning lights on the dash? Have you noticed any unusual sounds before starting? When did these symptoms first appear? P.S. It's good you're checking this out early, generator issues can lead to bigger problems if left unchecked!
