Honda City Parking Aid Failure

My 2018 Honda City with a gasoline engine has a parking aid system that's completely stopped. The display shows no proximity warnings, and there's an error message stored. Fuses are fine. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The parking aid system in a 2018 Honda City has stopped functioning, with no proximity warnings displayed and an error message present. The issue is not related to the fuses, and the rearview camera is operational, suggesting the problem might be with the ultrasonic sensors. Possible causes include damaged sensors or loose connections. It is recommended to check the sensors for visible damage and ensure the plugs are securely attached, but if unsure, taking the car to a workshop for diagnosis and repair is advised.

I had a similar issue with my City. Does your rearview camera still work? If so, it might be a problem with one of the ultrasonic sensors. They can get damaged easily, and if one goes, the whole system throws a fit. Have you checked the connections to those sensors? Sometimes a loose plug can cause havoc.

Thanks! The rearview camera works perfectly. Where exactly are these ultrasonic sensors located, and what am I looking for when checking the connections? Are they easy to get to, or do I need to take the bumper off?

Okay, camera working is a good sign it's probably not the main control unit. The ultrasonic sensors are usually embedded in the front and rear bumpers. You should be able to see them. Look for any obvious damage to the sensors themselves, like cracks or dents. As for the connections, check if the plugs are securely attached to the back of each sensor. You might need to get under the car or remove part of the bumper lining to get a good look. If you're not comfortable doing that, honestly, a workshop will diagnose it quickly. I ended up just taking mine in.

Thanks a lot! I think I'll take your advice and bring it to a workshop. I've already booked an appointment. They quoted me about 95€ to diagnose and fix a defective cable or plug connection, so hopefully, it's a quick and easy fix!
