Honda Fit Camshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Honda Fit is experiencing poor starting, engine stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light at 71,896 km. The issue is suspected to be a defective camshaft sensor or the encoder wheel on the camshafts. It is suggested that the camshaft position sensor is the likely cause, especially if stalling occurs at idle. The problem was confirmed to be the camshaft sensor, with the encoder wheel on the camshafts being defective, and the repair was completed at a workshop.

The check engine light illuminated after the stalling occurred repeatedly. I haven't checked for specific engine misfire codes yet. Is it likely the crankshaft sensor?

It could be the crankshaft sensor, but more likely the camshaft position sensor. They work together, but if the stalling is happening at idle, the camshaft sensor is prime suspect. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. You might want to do the same.

Thank you for the insight. I appreciate the advice. It turned out to be exactly as you suspected, the camshaft sensor. The repair, including parts and labor, was 695€. The garage confirmed the encoder wheel on camshafts was defective.

I had a similar issue with my Fit. Symptoms sound familiar. Did the check engine light come on right away? Any engine misfire codes showing up?
