Honda Grace Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda Grace with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing overheating and a check engine light issue. Initially suspected to be a radiator fan problem, it was suggested that a faulty speed sensor might be the cause, as it can disrupt the fan's operation by failing to communicate the need for cooling. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the speed sensor was indeed the issue, and replacing it resolved the overheating problem.

Speed sensor, eh? That's a new one for me! I assumed it was just the fan motor itself. How does the speed sensor influence the fan? And yeah, the fan blades look clear. I can spin them manually without any resistance.

Think of it like this: the car's computer needs to know how fast you're going to adjust the cooling. The computer gets its speed reading from the speed sensor. A defective speed sensor could mean the fan is simply not getting the signal that it needs to start, kinda like a miscommunication issue. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd suggest a proper diagnostic at a decent workshop, rather than throwing parts at it.

Thanks a bunch for the tip! I wouldn't have thought of the speed sensor. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the speed sensor was the culprit. New sensor, and the fan is working like a charm now. Cost me 250€, but totally worth it to have the Grace running cool again!

Hey! I had a similar experience with my Honda Grace (don't remember the exact year). Overheating and that pesky check engine light are no fun. Have you checked the speed sensor? A faulty speed sensor can mess with the temperature control and prevent the fan from kicking in when it should. Are the fan blades moving freely?
