Honda Legend belt handover failure
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Honda Legend hybrid with 239,516 km is experiencing a failure in the 'belt-handover' feature, potentially due to a defective belt bringer or handover mechanism. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a faulty belt tensioner, which was responsible for the handover mechanism's failure. Given the symptoms of intermittent noise, it is suggested to have the belt tensioner inspected and possibly replaced at a workshop.

Thanks! There is noise, but it's not consistent. It’s more like a brief rattle during start-up, then it quiets down. I inspected the idler pulley, and it seems fine. When you say 'belt tensioner,' are you referring to the component that handles the belt handover function?

Yes, exactly. In my case, the belt tensioner was responsible for the handover mechanism's failure. Given your mileage and the intermittent noise, your tensioner is likely failing. I suggest taking it to a workshop.

I appreciate your insight! I'll take it to the workshop. You saved me from a potential misdiagnosis. Thanks again!

I also drive a Legend. I had a similar issue that sounded like engine noise, especially during cold starts. It turned out to be a faulty belt tensioner. Is there noise present in your car?
